TOUR DESCRIPTION

Join us for an epic cycling tour of central Japan, as we make our way through quiet mountain villages, past countless verdant rice fields, along rugged coastline and into the real heart of Japan. Experience unforgettable scenery from the towering Northern Alps to the majestic Sea of Japan, but most of all, enjoy the genuine, local Japanese hospitality of this diverse area as we slowly cycle along each of our five major legs, giving us time to glimpse rural life and partake in some sightseeing as well.  If you are feeling strong, you can join Justin for a day hike or two in the alps during your free days, and while in Hakuba you will have the option to join locally-based guide Paul for any of the HAKUBA / OTARI AREA half or full-day sightseeing or activity tours listed elsewhere on  our site!

PRICE INCLUDES

• LODGING

All lodging for the duration of the tour, including a night in Tokyo on the evening before the tour commences (on the day of arrival).  Rooms may be either Japanese or Western style, depending on customer preference, rates and availability.  The price of ¥400,000 per person is based on double occupancy.  A ¥25,000 surcharge will be added for those requesting single occupancy.

• GROUND TRANSPORTATION

All ground transportation, whether by bus, train or private car, for the duration of the tour.  Please note, depending on when you arrive in and depart from Tokyo, Justin may be able to travel with you from/to Narita airport, but this is not guaranteed.  If necessary, we can help you make arrangements for transportation to and from the airport.

• DINNERS & BREAKFASTS

All dinners and breakfasts, including dinner on the day of arrival, and breakfast on the day of departure.  We will aim to eat a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, including various local and seasonal specialities as well the famed fresh seafood the northern coast has on offer.  Of course, our priority is also to accommodate all guests' dietary restrictions and individual tastes.

• GUIDED CYCLING DAYS

Six fully guided cycling days:

- Karuizawa to Matsumoto

- Mt. Norikura to Takayama

- Shirakawago to Kanazawa

- Noto Peninsula

- Noto Island

- Hakuba to Matsumoto

• ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS

The following scheduled activities and excursions are included in the price: 

- Tokyo sightseeing

- Matsumoto sightseeing

- Shirakawago sightseeing

- Hakuba sightseeing

- Wasabi farm

PRICE EXCLUDES

• Airfare to/from Tokyo

• ​Any lodging prior to 9/15 or beyond 9/24, should you wish to arrive earlier and/or stay longer in Japan

• Airport transfers* [See the "ground transportation" section above]

• Lunches, drinks or snacks

• ​Travel/cycling insurance

• ​Bicycle rental [If necessary, bicycles can be rented for a flat rate of ￥30,000 for the duration of the tour.]

• Any optional activity joined in Hakuba with local guide Paul will be a separate fee payable in cash on the date of the activity.

GROUP SIZE / GUIDES

• For this tour to operate at the listed price, we require a minimum of 4 persons.  

• Group size will be limited to a maximum of 8 persons.

• ​Two guides will accompany the tour for all but the first and last days, when there will be a single guide (Justin).
